Recording Electric Bass: For the Musician

• Put on a new set of strings the night before.

• Set the pickup adjustment screws for even output from all strings.

• Check the harmonics, as it is vital that the instrument plays in tune. 

Recording Electric Bass: For the engineer

• Consider  using  a  DI ( direct inject box) most basses are recorded this way.   

• Keep instrument levels high and amp levels low.

• Use a compressor to even out the note-to-note differences in dynamic range that are often encountered with electric bass.
